Osceola Recognized for Exceptional Performance of its District-Operated Schools

September 8, 2026 — Dr. Tony Arza recently spoke before the Osceola County School Board to recognize its outstanding districtwide academic achievement and unwavering commitment to student success. “Florida Education News and the Florida Charter School Alliance are proud to recognize the School District of Osceola County as an “A-Rated School District and the exceptional performance of its district-operated public schools,” said Dr. Tony Arza, Chief Strategy Officer, Florida Charter School Alliance. “When traditional public schools succeed, the school choice community should celebrate that success just as enthusiastically as we celebrate the success of high-performing charter schools.”

Florida’s school choice movement has always been about more than just additional educational options for families. At its best, school choice is about better schools and better options. The Choice movement creates an environment in which traditional public schools and public charter schools challenge one another to improve, innovate, and better serve Florida’s students.

Outreach to and recognition of quality districts is aligned with the FCSA’s District/Charter Collaborative. Made possible by the Florida Department of Education’s Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant, the project included a series of Charter School Leaders and Authorizers Compliance and Best Practices Training and Collaboration.  Facilitated by Dr. Arza, the trainings focused on authorizer training and collaborative roundtable discussions between key charter school leaders and authorizers — including district superintendents and school board members.
