April 3, 2026 — The Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) created the Charter School Leaders and Authorizers Compliance and Best Practices Training and Collaboration with a grant from the Florida Department of Education.
The Authorizer Trainings were designed to support Florida charter school authorizers (school district personnel), with a focus on superintendents and school board members. These trainings resulted in a series of collaborative roundtable discussion videos between charter school leaders and authorizers.
The videos are a great resource for charter school governing board members and leaders. Training takeaways:
- Gain a clear understanding of the authorizer’s role and responsibilities
- Hear directly from school districts about their role in authorizing, oversight, and accountability
- Learn how charter school authorizers evaluate charter applications, renewals, and amendments
- Gain insight into common authorizer concerns and how they can be proactively addressed
- Build capacity to support high-quality charter schools
