JOB GOAL:
The School Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader, responsible for ensuring high levels of student achievement aligned to Florida standards. The Principal provides strategic vision, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with all Florida statutes, State Board of Education rules, and applicable district or charter requirements.
SUPERVISES: All instructional, administrative, and support personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership & Student Achievement:Â
- Leads implementation of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Analyzes FAST, state assessment, and progress monitoring data to drive instructional decisions
- Ensures effective Tier 1 instruction and intervention systems (MTSS)
Strategic Planning & School Improvement:
- Develops and implements the School Improvement Plan (SIP) aligned to Florida accountability requirements
- Monitors progress toward school grade improvement and student performance goals
Talent Management & Staff Development:Â
- Recruits, hires, and retains high-quality instructional staff
- Implements evaluation systems aligned to Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs)
- Provides ongoing coaching and professional development
School Culture & Learning Environment:
- Establishes a safe and supportive learning environment aligned to Florida’s Whole Child framework
- Ensures compliance with student services, ESE, and ESOL requirements
Operational & Fiscal Management:
- Manages school budget in alignment with FEFP and other funding sources
- Ensures compliance with Florida Statute 1002.33 (charter schools, if applicable) and other applicable laws
Decision-Making & Leadership:
- Uses data and stakeholder input to inform decisions
- Establishes clear expectations and accountability systems
Family & Community Engagement:
- Builds partnerships with families and community stakeholders
- Maintains transparent communication
Communication & Professional Practice:
- Demonstrates professional and ethical behavior aligned to Florida Principal Standards
- Engages in continuous professional learning
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Florida Principal Standards (Rule 6A-5.080)
- Expertise in data analysis and school accountability systems
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to build effective teams and engage stakeholders
- Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution in Educational Leadership or a related field (Doctoral degree preferred)
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful instructional experience and at least three (3) years of leadership experience
- Valid Florida Educator Certification in Educational Leadership (School Principal) or eligibility to obtain
- Demonstrated knowledge of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards, Florida’s accountability system, and school improvement processes
- Proven track record of improving student achievement through data-driven practice
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful instructional experience and at least three (3) years of leadership experience
- Valid Florida Educator Certification in Educational Leadership (School Principal) or eligibility to obtain
