Woodmont STEAM Academy is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive Dance Instructor to serve students in grades K–8. This educator will design and deliver a comprehensive dance program that reflects a wide range of cultural traditions and movement styles, while supporting the school’s STEAM focus through creativity, expression, and performance.
The ideal candidate brings the ability to expose students to diverse dance forms—from contemporary and hip-hop to global and liturgical movement—creating an inclusive environment where all students can see themselves reflected and celebrated through the arts.
Provide developmentally appropriate dance instruction for elementary and middle school students (K–8)
Design lessons that incorporate a variety of dance styles, including but not limited to:
Contemporary and modern
Hip-hop and street styles
African, Caribbean, and Latin dance
Liturgical and expressive movement
Build choreography and performances that reflect multiple cultures and traditions
Prepare students for school showcases, community events, and performances
Integrate dance with cross-curricular connections (history, culture, music, wellness, and creativity within STEAM)
Foster a positive, structured classroom environment aligned with school expectations
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of both elementary and middle school learners
Support extracurricular opportunities such as dance teams, step teams, or performance groups
Collaborate with staff to contribute to a vibrant school culture
Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Performing Arts, Education, or related field (preferred)
Teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred
Experience teaching youth (elementary and/or middle school)
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Ability to design engaging, standards-aligned lessons across grade levels
Knowledge of curriculum, classroom management, and student development. Strong communication, instructional, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Classroom and school-based work environment serving K–12 students
