Located in a two-story facility at Slate Park at 2590 West 76 Street in Hialeah (a working class, predominantly Hispanic area in Miami-Dade County), the City of Hialeah Educational Academy (HEA) was created by the municipality in partnership with their Police and Fire Departments. It is the first charter school in the state of Florida to offer academies in law enforcement, and fire and emergency responder. More than a middle / high school, HEA is career-oriented academy that prepares students for college, and provides them with valuable experience in various public service fields. City of Hialeah Police Officers and Fire Fighters serve as active mentors and teachers — actively involved in the curriculum of the school and serving as an integral part of Project based learning.
