The Music Teacher will provide comprehensive music instruction for students in grades K–8, fostering musical literacy, creativity, and performance skills. This role emphasizes exposure to a variety of musical forms and hands-on instrumental learning, including keyboarding and guitar, while supporting a broader STEAM approach through rhythm, patterns, sound, and creative expression.
The ideal candidate will create an engaging and structured environment where students explore music through listening, performing, creating, and connecting.
Deliver standards-aligned music instruction for students in grades K–8
Teach foundational music concepts, including:
Rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation
Music appreciation and history across genres and cultures
Provide hands-on instruction in instrumental music, including:
Keyboarding (piano basics)
Guitar fundamentals
Introduce students to a variety of musical styles, such as classical, contemporary, jazz, gospel, global music, and modern genres
Incorporate vocal instruction and group performance opportunities
Prepare students for performances, showcases, and school/community events
Integrate STEAM connections (sound waves, frequency, patterns, technology in music production)
Maintain and manage musical instruments and equipment
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of both elementary and middle school learners
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and creativity
Collaborate with staff to support school-wide programs and events
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field
Teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred
Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
Proficiency in at least one primary instrument (keyboard or guitar preferred)
Experience teaching keyboard/piano and guitar in a school or youth setting
Ability to teach multiple genres and culturally diverse music styles
Familiarity with music technology (digital music tools, recording basics, or production software)
Experience directing performances or student ensembles
Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
Classroom and school-based work environment serving K–12 students
Regular interaction with students, parents, staff, and community members
