The Art Teacher will provide comprehensive visual arts instruction for students in grades K–8, fostering creativity, technical skill development, and artistic expression. This role emphasizes the integration of visual arts within a STEAM framework, connecting artistic processes with science, technology, engineering, and design.
The ideal candidate will create a structured yet inspiring environment where students explore a variety of media, with a strong emphasis on both 2D and 3D art forms, including ceramics.
Deliver standards-aligned visual arts instruction for students in grades K–8
Teach a wide range of artistic techniques, including:
Drawing and painting
Mixed media
Sculpture and ceramics
Design and implement a ceramics program that includes regular use of a kiln for student-created work
Integrate STEAM concepts into art instruction (design thinking, structure, form, problem-solving, and creativity)
Guide students through the artistic process, including planning, creating, refining, and presenting work
Prepare and display student artwork for showcases, exhibitions, and school events
Maintain a safe and organized art classroom, including proper use and supervision of tools and equipment
Manage art materials, inventory, and supplies effectively
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of both elementary and middle school students
Collaborate with staff to support cross-curricular and STEAM initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
Teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred
Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students
Knowledge of kiln safety procedures and ceramics instruction
Knowledge of curriculum, classroom management, and student development. Strong communication, instructional, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
