Success at Marco Island Academy Recognized by Governor

Naples Herald by @ByRJRoan Governor Rick Scott visited Marco Island Academy on Friday to present four teachers and staff members with the Shine Award.

The Shine Awards are given to educators in the state who have made an impact on students and their lives in the classroom.

“Our schools are preparing our students for the future and it’s constantly changing,” Scott said. “Our future is dependent on the type of schools we have and the type of teachers we have.”

The governor recognized Principal Melissa Scott, history teacher Lori Galiana, Spanish teacher Mariah Walther, and English teacher Kirby Rients while touring the campus of the charter school which houses the only high school on Marco Island.
