Speak up on behalf of your schools at NAACP hearing

January 25, 2017

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being supporters of quality public school options for Florida’s students. As you may have heard, the national board of the NAACP voted this past October to recommend a moratorium on charter public school growth as part of its national platform. The NAACP Task Force for Quality Education is hosting a meeting in Orlando this Friday as part of a national tour of hearings on quality education.

NAACP Charter School Hearing
Friday, January 27 at 2PM – 7PM

Rosen Centre Hotel
9840 International Drive
Orlando, FL 32819

Unfortunately, the Florida Charter School Alliance, our member schools and national partners have been denied any meaningful participation in this meeting.

It’s more important than ever for local parents and charter school advocates to attend the meeting and share why their charter school is an important part of their community.

There is a public speaking portion – all who sign up will get to share their charter school experiences. We need to ensure the NAACP hears from you. If you are interested in attending, CLICK HERE

If you can’t attend…spread the word on social media and let the NAACP know that charter schools have your support.

Click to tweet: .@FLNAACP says they want to listen to FL charter school community, yet have not invited our leaders to speak at #NAACPhearing #ChartersWork

Here is the NAACP’s official invitation – contact FCSA executive director Lynn Norman-Teck at Lynn@flcharteralliance.org or Abigail Otero – abigail@flcharteralliance – if you have any questions.

We encourage all charter school leaders, teachers, and families to attend, share their stories, and speak up for school choice. I hope to see as many of you there as possible to show the NAACP that charter schools provide excellent public school

Thank you for your support.
