Somerset Prep Students, Faculty Observe 9/11

img_9488On September 12, the students and faculty at Somerset Prep Sunset in Miami-Dade County held a ceremony in observance of the tragedy of 9/11. Students participated by sharing a song, drawing, poem, or essay reflecting on the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, followed by a moment of silence for the fallen of 9/11.

Dr. Daniel Menendez, a Somerset Prep parent, spoke about his experience living in New York when attacks occurred, and treating many who were injured.

img_9462“Teaching students about the events of September 11 and its impact on our lives then and today is important,” explains Dr. Christina Cruz, Principal at Somerset Prep Sunset. “We wanted to present the facts and give students an avenue to express themselves.”
