The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools along with the Foundation for Excellence in Education and Ampersand Education released a report that is a compilation of results from surveys of some of the top performing Charter Management Organizations (non-profit management companies) in the country. The survey analyzes the key issues they evaluate when determining in what state or region to expand. The findings can act as a policy guide for states that wish to recruit some of these top performing charters (e.g., KIPP, Rocketship, Summit, Basis, etc.) into their state.
Experienced and successful CMOs can develop and grow schools designed to meet the needs of underserved children and families. This report will help policymakers — including governors, state legislators, state board of education members, state education chiefs, and even local leaders — attract the country’s best CMOs to their cities and states.
