September 2016 – According to a new report by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, the number of Hispanic students enrolled in charter schools is growing and so is support for education choice among Hispanic parents.
The report, titled Charter Schools Serving Hispanic Communities, shows that charter schools serve more Hispanic students than their district counterparts, and that charter schools are fostering achievement at higher levels.
In Florida, an estimated 38 percentage of Hispanic students attend a public charter school (2013-2014). The most recent report by the Florida Department of Education also shows that Hispanic students attending a charter school outperformed peers attending district run schools on the state’s standardized math and reading assessments.
