FCSA team to present at state charter conference

Daytona Beach, FL — Oct. 31, 2017 — The Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) , a nonprofit statewide charter school support and advocacy organization, was selected to be a presenter at the state charter school conference.  Now in its 21st year, the Florida Charter School Conference features educational workshops and inspirational speakers aimed at teachers, school leaders, authorizers.  The conference will take place November 1-3 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

A conference sponsor, the FCSA will host a members only 2018 Legislative Preview & Advocacy Workshop on the conference opening day, Wednesday, November 1 at 1 p.m.  Panelists include State Representative Michael Bileca, House Education Committee Chair, and Ralph Arza, former legislator and FCSA’s Director of Governmental Affairs.   Mr. Arza will also be a guest during the conference’s Opening Session on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, November 2, FCSA’s Executive Director, Lynn Norman-Teck and Jenna Hodgens, Director of the Charter School Office for Hillsborough County Public Schools, will lead a discussion about Authorizer/Charter Relationships.  That breakout session begins at 8:00 a.m. in Room 101.  At 2:30 p.m., Lynn will present at the Branding Excellence: How to use parent engagement, social media, and advertising to fill seats, recruit students, and expand your brand session along with Jeanette Nunez, Marketing Manager, Academica.

Throughout the conference, FCSA team members will be in the Exhibit Hall in booth 201.

The FCSA provides year-round support for new and existing charter schools — offering member schools a state-of-the-art Teacher and Principal Evaluation Tool, Advocacy Training for principals and parents, Media Crisis Assistance and Training, and individualized services including district outreach and mediation.  The FCSA governing board in partnership with the organization’s independent schools recently launched the Independent Charter School Council of Florida to ensure all school leaders and stakeholders have a strong voice in the movement.  FCSA has been a leader in state and local charter school and parental choice advocacy efforts since 1999.
